Córdoba, March 12, 2019 - NESTLÉ, the world's largest food and beverage company, inaugurated a new production line at Villa Nueva factory in the province of Córdoba, Argentina. This project will allow the Company to start production of liquid milk, in added-value segments. The project had an investment of more than CHF 12 million to acquire a new sterilization plant, state-of-the-art technology, an adaptation for packing line, the renovation of existing boilers and the cold system for the whole plant and a modern and automated deposit. This investment is part of a local investment plan of CHF 127 million executed during the last four years. The new production line allows manufacturing 10 million liters per year of value-added liquid products with UHT (ultra-high temperature) technology, a heat treatment that produces sterilized milk. Although Nestlé is already an important player in the Argentine dairy market, with great export capacity, this innovation will allow the Company to expand its presence in the sector, producing liquid versions of value-added products with brands such as Nesquik, Nido and NAN. This investment converts Villa Nueva Factory in the third Nestlé factory in the world to produce infant formulas* with the UHT format.

“For 89 years we have been present in Argentina, leading the milk powder market and that encourages us to continue investing on the development of our brands. Today we are announcing our entry into the liquids market, with added-value products to bring news to our consumers, boost business growth, promote exports and be pioneers on new projects, such as organic milk and A2 milk. Nestlé has the strength to connect the demand of consumers from different parts of the world with the supply of countries like ours,” says Gian Carlo Aubry, CEO and President of Nestlé Argentina, Uruguay and Paraguay.

Both for Villa Nueva and its other five factories and for its headquarters in Argentina, Nestlé signed an agreement whereby commits that 100% of the electric power used will come from renewable sources by 2020, aligned with the Company's commitment to preserve natural resources for future generations.

The purpose of Nestlé is to enhance quality of life and contribute to a healthier future for individuals and families, communities and the planet. It has been present in Argentina for 89 years and since then it has been working to improve the lives of its consumers by offering them tasty food and beverages options with an adequate nutritional profile for all stages of life and for all times of the day. In addition to its headquarters, Nestlé Argentina operates with six factories located in different regions of the country, employing more than 2,000 people.

*We believe breastmilk is the ideal nutrition for babies. This is why we support and promote the World Health Organization’s (WHO) recommendation of six months exclusive breastfeeding, followed by the introduction of adequate nutritious complementary foods along with sustained breastfeeding up to two years of age and beyond.
